Carol organized and performed at the sold-out benefit concert for Christopher Rodriguez at Yoshi's Jazz Club in Oakland. The line-up included: Narada Michael Walden, Jose Neto, John Santos, Frank Martin, Matt Herskowitz, Rafael Manriquez, Nancy Tyler and other members of the Bay Area Chamber Symphony, vocalists Alvenson Moore, Gabi Wilson, Tina Glenn and others.
Carol Alban was on the advisory board for the Galway Master Class on July 15th, 2007 in Napa, California. She and Nancy Tyler (The Alban Tyler Duo) performed at the Atrium Concert that morning. Carol also assisted Lady Galway with the teen portion of the Master Class.

MARY ROWELL, violinist extraordinaire (from the ETHEL String Quartet) performed Carol's solo piece "Elegy" (hear the flute version on the music page) on the violin at the TriBeCa New Music Festival and at the Women's Work 2007 Concert in New York City.
The SONOMA VALLEY FILM FESTIVAL selected the Alban Trio's recording of "Spring" by Vivaldi for their trailer and TV spots. Stations to air this include IFC, Comcast Cable and ABC 7 in the San Francisco Bay Area. Carol Alban - Flautist and Composer. Carol Alban is an active teacher and performer in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is Principal Flutist with the Bay Area Chamber Symphony. Carol is very active in the San Francisco area "flute scene" and is the founder of the Alban Trio, the Bay Area Flute Fest and the San Francisco Flute Quartet. She began her music studies on the piano and started playing the flute at the age of nine. Carol studied privately with Paul Renzi, former Principal Flutist with the San Francisco Symphony, while attending San Francisco State University as a Music Major with an emphasis in Flute Performance. Some other flute instructors/mentors have included Julie McKenzie the Principal Flutist with the San Francisco Opera, Janet See, and April King, former protege of Julius Baker. She is recording two albums of her own at the moment. Besides concert music, Carol also composes for film. The song, "Down in the Delta" which she co-wrote with Alvenson Moore was used in the film "Character is Destiny" (Dreamweaver Films) and Carol Alban composed the soundtrack for "Goodbye, My Love". The title track was co-written with Alvenson Moore. Her music was used in the I.D.A. documentary, "Wild Beauty Betrayed".

Carol Alban provides elegant live music for all kinds of events (weddings, parties, receptions, etc.) and performs in several ensembles including the Alban Trio (flute, violin, cello). She also frequently performs with piano accompaniment. Carol Alban is a member of the National Flute Association and the New York Flute Club and is the founder/director of the Fluteville Flute Choir. She maintains an active teaching studio on the border of Piedmont and Oakland. --------------------~Some Past Performances~----------------- September 12th, 2005 Concerned about the plight of the victims of Hurricane Katrina, Carol contacted the Congregation Emanu-El in San Francisco about holding a benefit concert to raise money for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Cantor Roslyn Barak graciously organized the star-studded concert which included performances by San Francisco Symphony Conductor Michael Tilson Thomas, Frederica von Stade, Wesla Whitfield and Mike Greensill, flautist Carol Alban, grammy award-winning cellist Emil Miland, members of the San Francisco Symphony and DAVKA, featuring violinist Daniel Hoffman. Over $16,000 was raised for hurricane relief efforts. Carol Alban's latest composition for solo flute, "Elegy" (which she dedicated to the hurricane victims) had its premiere performance at the Sept. 12th benefit concert and was very well received. "That was beautiful!" said Michael Tilson Thomas (after hearing Carol perform it at the concert). On October 15th, 2005 another Katrina benefit was held at the Julian Morgan Center for the Arts. Carol Alban was asked to perform at this event that included all kinds of entertainers including the hilarious Will Durst and the poignant Anne Galjour. Much fun was had and much needed money was raised! - Carol Alban has performed throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and most recently in New York City. She has organized and performed in numerous concerts at the majestic Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland including the Tsunami Relief Concert which featured performances by Carol Alban with Miles Graber (piano), Patti Weiss (violin) , Daniel Hoffman with Klez-x, Dylan Snodgrass(piano), Nancy Tyler (flute), soprano Katya Roemer, Francis Lockwood (piano), Philip Gelb (shakuhachi), Suellen Primost (cello) and Katrina (Katie") Wreede (violist and former member of the Turtle Island Quartet). Other past performances include Petchitecture, a very special fundraising event for PAWS (Pets Are Wonderful Support) at the Gift Center in San Francisco, many gallery receptions including the Martin Lawrence Gallery Receptions for Chagall's Circus Suite and the Ali Golkar Show, the Fort Mason "Photo SF" International Photography Exhibition, the Berkeley Free Folk Festival and the Piedmont Jazz Festival.
